The Bahrain Odia Samaj, an organization of the Odia diaspora based in Bahrain, joyously celebrated the 90th Utkal Dibasa with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event saw the participation of over 300 attendees, including around 100 Odia families.
The Chief Guest of the celebration was His Excellency Mr. Vinod Jacob, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The major attractions of the event included renowned Odia comedian Papu Pom Pom, popular singer Swayam Padhi, and acclaimed vocalist Anandita Das, who enthralled the audience with their performances.Members of the community, including men, women, and children, showcased Odisha’s vibrant culture through Koraput and Sambalpuri dance performances, melodious Odia songs, and a fashion show themed on “Mo Odisha”. The cultural richness of Odisha was beautifully highlighted, and performers were felicitated with trophies and awards.The event began with a welcome address by Mr. Prabhakar Padhi, President of Bahrain Odia Samaj. This was followed by an enlightening speech from noted Odia industrialist Debalokanath Mohanty, who emphasized the legacy, culture, and pride of Odisha and HE. Key office-bearers of the organization—Shantanu Senapati, P.D. Ray, Sarada Pattnaik, Amresh Panda, Amarnath Subudhi, and Ankita Nayak —commenced the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp while chanting the slogan “Ame Odia, Ama Bhasa Badhiya” (We are Odias, and our language is excellent). The lamp-lighting also paid tribute to legendary Odia personalities and freedom fighters. The event was filled with joy and cultural splendor as artists entertained the audience with songs, dances, and comedy. Distinguished guests were honored, and the audience danced and celebrated to the rhythmic beats of Odia music. The event fostered a spirit of Odia brotherhood, bringing together families who shared traditional Odia cuisine and celebrated the unity of Odia culture.The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the organizing committee, expressing gratitude to all attendees for making the event a grand success.
