Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC) Bahrain Chapter successfully organized its flagship Legal Awareness and Community Engagement Programme, “Connecting People – 7th Edition,” on 12 June 2026 at the Bahrain Media City (BMC) Auditorium, bringing together government authorities, international organizations, embassy representatives, legal experts, community leaders, and expatriates from diverse nationalities under one platform.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Assistant General Secretary, PLC Bahrain Chapter, who welcomed the distinguished guests, officials, community leaders, and participants. The event was formally inaugurated through the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries.

Delivering the Presidential Address virtually, Adv. Jose Abraham, Global President of Pravasi Legal Cell and Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India, emphasized the importance of legal awareness, migrant protection, access to justice, and stronger cooperation between government institutions and expatriate communities.

Mr. Francis Kaitharath, Patron of PLC Bahrain Chapter and CMD of Bahrain Media City, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of Pravasi Legal Cell in empowering migrant communities through legal education, awareness, and community engagement initiatives.

The highlight of the programme was a series of awareness lectures delivered by senior officials from Bahrain Government authorities and international organizations, providing valuable information directly to expatriate communities.

Mr. Faisal Khaled Abdullah, Insurance Services Specialist (End of Service Indemnity)
Representatives from the General Directorate of Traffic and the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) delivered detailed PowerPoint presentations, providing practical guidance on traffic regulations, road safety, work injury benefits, social insurance coverage, and end-of-service indemnity benefits available to employees in Bahrain.

Representing the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Ms. Nihal AKL, Project Officer (Labour Mobility), delivered an informative awareness lecture on safe migration, ethical recruitment, migrant protection mechanisms, and available support services.

The programme was further strengthened by the participation of embassy representatives, including:

A special Legal Talk Session was conducted by PLC Panel Lawyers Adv. Bushra Mayoof and Adv. Tariq Alown, who addressed key legal issues frequently faced by expatriates and explained the legal remedies available under Bahraini law.

One of the most appreciated segments of the programme was the extensive Question & Answer Session, during which participants directly interacted with officials from NPRA, LMRA, SIO, General Directorate of Traffic, IOM, Embassy representatives, and PLC Panel Lawyers.

A large number of questions relating to labour rights, visa regulations, social insurance benefits, end-of-service indemnity, work injury compensation, residency procedures, traffic regulations, legal disputes, migrant welfare, and access to government services were answered in detail by the authorities and legal experts. Participants highly appreciated the opportunity to receive accurate information directly from the concerned officials.

The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with participants representing various expatriate communities including Indian, Filipino, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, African, and other nationalities. In addition to the large physical attendance at the venue, many participants joined through Zoom and live telecast platforms, enabling wider community participation.

The programme was coordinated under the leadership of Mr. Sudheer Thirunilath, Global PRO and Bahrain Chapter President, together with Dr. Rithin Raj, General Secretary, supported by PLC Governing Council Members, Executive Committee Members, volunteers, and community leaders who ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Ganesh Murthy, Treasurer, PLC Bahrain Chapter, who expressed gratitude to all government authorities, international organizations, embassy officials, panel lawyers, Bahrain Media City, volunteers, media partners, and participants for making the programme a grand success.

Pravasi Legal Cell Bahrain Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing programmes that promote legal awareness, migrant protection, community engagement, and access to justice for expatriate communities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
