NIS Celebrates Foundation Day and Invests New Student Leaders


The New Indian School W.L.L., Bahrain, celebrated its 36th Foundation Day and Investiture.Ceremony 2026 on 6 June at Dr. T. T. Thomas Hall, marking a significant occasion that honoured the institution’s legacy while welcoming a new team of student leaders. The event was attended by Chairman Dr. Jaan M. T. Thottumalil, Executive Director Mrs. Jemi Thottumalil Thomas, Director Mr. Joby Augustine, Principal Dr. K. Gopinath Menon, Vice- Principals, teachers, and students. The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem of Bahrain and the School Anthem. In his address, Principal Dr. K. Gopinath Menon encouraged the newly elected Student Council members to lead with integrity, commitment, and responsibility. Chairman Dr. Jaan M. T. Thottumalil and Director Mr. Joby Augustine congratulated the young leaders and urged them
to serve as role models for the student community. A special presentation titled “Journey Through the Years” highlighted the school’s growth and achievements, paying tribute to its founder, Late Dr. T. T. Thomas. The highlight of the programme was the Investiture Ceremony, during which the newly elected Student Council members took the oath of office. The Chairman, Executive Director, Director, Principal, and Vice-Principals formally invested the council members, house leaders, and
teacher in-charges with badges and sashes, symbolising their leadership responsibilities. The event also featured a meaningful dance skit on Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger, raising awareness about the global challenge of hunger and the importance of collective action. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Head Boy and Head Girl 2026. The
celebration reflected the school’s continued commitment to excellence, leadership, and holistic student development.
